Deep Pond Preservation Project (DPPP) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is:

To help restore and maintain the health of Deep Pond – including a reduction of invasive plants and toxic pollutants – for the betterment of health, recreational activities, aesthetics, and property values.

Our ranks include Deep Pond residents and others who love and use the pond, and who are taking action to combat serious threats to the pond.  We aim to reduce environmental damage and restore water quality in the pond by acting together and joining with the Town of Falmouth and other organizations, both state and local, in our mutual efforts.

Deep Pond has been a favorite of generations of residents and visitors who seek an experience in nature that is different from the ocean beaches. Measuring 27 acres and just over one mile in circumference, Deep Pond is a state-designated Great Pond. It is stocked with bass and trout. Turtles and frogs also populate the pond.

Posting Informational Signs-2

With new construction and an increase in residents and visitors, Deep Pond has suffered. A heavily developed shoreline has resulted in a decline in water clarity and reduced numbers of fish, turtles, and frogs. An increase in nutrients from chemical fertilizer and faulty septic systems, along with more people using the pond, is endangering its health and beauty. If left unchecked, cyanobacteria blooms and nutrient-driven invasive water species such as milfoil and curlyleaf pondweed, which are occurring with increased frequency, will change Deep Pond forever.
